Why “Rethymnon”

If we were in Chania we would talk about Chania, if we were in Heraklion we would talk about Heraklion, but we are in picturesque Rethymno so we will talk to you about it!  

Rethymno is the third largest city in Crete after Heraklion and Chania and one of the two most picturesque cities after Chania.  But without disparaging the other smaller ones with their own beauties.

Rethymno is located in the centre of the island which makes it an ideal destination for your getaways as most of the attractions are located around it!  You can easily visit the neighbouring cities of Heraklion and Chania as well as the beautiful and famous beaches of Plakias, Souda, Preveli, Triopetra etc., which are located south of the prefecture just 30 minutes away by car.  

The town of Rethymno has been developed along the coast on the longest sandy beach of the island and Greece with a continuous length of 15 km. Within a walking distance from any part of the town you are on the beach with a promenade, pedestrian walkway and an organized beach of 4 km, ideal for a morning or afternoon walk.  

The old town, with its cobbled streets, picturesque alleys, market, countless gastronomic options, luxurious cafes and bars for your nightlife, the town of Rethymno promises to satisfy even the most demanding tastes!
